Offshore / Oilfield / Oilrig
 / Maritime Jobs!

 Companies are NOW HIRING!

Additional Information:

For those of you who are still with me, here is a more in-depth look at what it takes to get hired in this industry via the internet.

1.Current Employment Outlook:

You would have to be a corpse not to be aware of the effect today's steady rise of crude is having on the world's economies. Back in the late 70's and early 80's a barrel of West Texas Crude could be gotten for less than $10 a barrel. It remained that way for years. Predictions were it would never pass the $25 mark.

Those were the good ole days but are long since gone. Funny how people were crying about gas inching up to $1.00 per gallon mark. During that time many an offshore, oilfield, oilrig and maritime job company went belly up. Workers were laid off by the tens of thousands.

All that is over with and the big question now is "Are we running out of oil or not?" It doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out removing 85 million barrels of oil per day (current world consumption) is eventually going to suck this planet dry. It's not a question of "Is It?" but a question of when.

  • One industry expert claims we have reached "peak oil" status, meaning the total output of all the world will never exceed what it is today. A scary thought for sure.

  • Another expert claims some 10 trillion barrels have been discovered during the last 25 years but only one trillion barrels have actually been extracted.

I am not qualified to tell you which is correct. I can tell you I know the following is true:

  • New orders for drilling rigs, supply / crew boats and all types of offshore utility vessels and equipment are at an all time high.

  • The people who fund these projects are no dummies, and would not be investing mega-billions in an industry they thought was going to die out in the near future.

  • The #1 problem recruiters have today is finding dependable personnel, both entry level and experienced.

To further illustrate my point as to the real and ever current shortage of qualified help, there are several major ports in the US that service the offshore / oilfield / oilrig and maritime job industry.

As you get closer and closer to these ports, you will begin seeing numerous types of help wanted advertisements. These came from the road to a major offshore supply hub down in South Louisiana.

2. Fact vs Fiction:

If you spend any time on the web searching for offshore oil and gas jobs you will come across sites and receive offers that make all types of claims as to how they can get you on. It becomes confusing and gets hard to know who is telling the truth.

Compiled through years of online research, our published information is the best available for getting you off to a fast start in your new career.

  • For your benefit this comprehensive listing includes web sites with proven track records

  • For your protection it includes sites you want to avoid like the plague.

Some are outright scams. We will address them first in a special web page written for Offshore Guides readers, Avoid the Scams!

Some sites have a tendency to bend the truth a bit. We are as honest as possible about who we are and what we can and cannot do. In a perfect world it would be nice if others did the same. Unfortunately this is not the case and there is a lot of misinformation out there.

This misinformation gives the wrong idea about certain issues that are important to you in making career choices and buying decisions. We have found statements on other sites that are a bit "iffy" and should be taken with a grain of salt.

  • Pay: Pay depends on what your qualifications are and who you work for:
Average entry level wages are $30,000 to $50,000 per year.
Tops would be $55,000 to $60,000.
Regardless of what a web site claims, no entry level job is going to pay $100,000 per year or more.
    No way / no how!

  • Time Sensitive Offer: This is a marketing ploy used by web site owners who think they are smart and everyone else is stupid. It gives the impression that if you don't hurry up and do what they want you will lose out.
Funny how the "time sensitive date" changes every day.

  • "We are the original site, experts, etc.": More BS. If you want to find the original publication date of any site, use the WayBackMachine.
As you can see, Offshore Guides first came online in January of 1998.
You will not find many (if any) offshore, oilfield, oilrig or maritime job sites that have earlier online start up dates.
Established in 1978 Offshore Guides was helping the offshore job seeker find work in this high paying and exciting career before the internet was even thinking about getting started.

3. Where / How to Apply:

After years of trial and error on how to get a job in this industry via the internet, our conclusion is there are two ways to do it. Which one you choose depends on how you do things.

The first approach is sending your resumé or CV to offshore, oilfield, oilrig and maritime job recruiters using a one on one personal contact method.

Using feedback from those going before you, Offshore Guides developed this method for the serious offshore job seeker. We personally promote this as being the best on the web.

  • Direct Access gives you immediate one on one personal contact with real offshore, oilrig, oilfield and maritime recruiters that are now hiring and staffing for present and future needs, both in the US and overseas.

  • Rigworker  instantly delivers your resumé or CV to all the recruiters in the industry at one time.

Both methods are legitimate, successful methods and have found jobs for numerous people like yourself. Some people like the one on one process, others prefer contacting all the recruiters at once. Still other job seekers cover all bases and use the two methods in combination.

  • Both of these sites are run by reputable people having many years experience working offshore and many years experience in helping others get jobs in the industry.

  • Both sites get excellent results.

One thing is certain. In 2008 the industry is surpassing all previous records in both exploration and production.

  • Rigs that have been mothballed for years are being brought back into service and given new life.

  • Orders for new rigs and equipment come in every day at record levels.

  • Companies are working shorthanded every day!

If you want a job in this high pay and exciting career, get started TODAY!
