The oil
and gas sector of the web has gotten to be a very busy place.
There are hundreds of web sites relating to this industry. Which
do you use? Which do you avoid?
- If you do not know what you
are doing, you can rapidly burn up hundreds of hours in search
time and still come up empty handed.
- In a
more "worse case" scenario, you could become /
already are the victim of some clever scam artists portraying
themselves as real job opportunities.
To make
things simple, I have divided into five easily identifiable
categories the types of web sites you will encounter in your
search for offshore / maritime employment. If it has anything to
do with offshore oilfield jobs, you will find it on one of
these sites.
1.
Employer sites posted by legitimate companies engaged
in offshore, oilfield and maritime operations. These are the
companies that do the hiring. They are scattered all over the
globe, operate 24/7 both onshore and off, employ millions of workers from
all walks of life and are always searching for dependable, hardworking people. Experienced
and entry level alike.
- This
is where you want to spend your time and energy because this
is where you will get hired.
- Follow
our simple instructions and you will be interviewing for
work in less than 72 hours.
- Below
is a partial listing of the many categories of companies that
operate non stop to keep the wheels of the the world turning.
Finding, hiring, training and keeping
dependable people is priority one for offshore oilfield maritime
job recruiters in 2008.

2.
Offshore employment agency sites find you a job for
a fee. The normal fee for Gulf of Mexico operations is 14 days
pay. This can be paid all at once or in installments.
Fees for
overseas jobs vary from agency to agency as does reliability. If you
do not have or do not want to spend the time using a one on one
direct contact with hiring recruiters (our recommended method),
then using a dependable offshore oilfield job agency might be just the ticket you are
looking for.
3.
Data collection sites accept, register and store your
resumé or CV and contact details. This data is then made available to
offshore / maritime employers who are
actively searching for personnel. Some data collection sites
offer additional services, some don't.
- Most
of the better known data collection sites are legit and
real recruiters will view your resumé, work history contact
details and give you a call if you are what they are looking
for.
- However,
there are always a few rouge sites
that are professionally laid out, very real looking and contain
some convincing
sales material so WATCH OUT!
- You
will get hired through the legitimate ones.
- The
others will waste your time, or worse, hook you up with phony offers from offshore job
scammers.
4.
Resumé or CV blaster sites: If you do not want to use
the one on one direct contact method in your offshore job search
(our recommendation), the
other choice is to have your resumé or CV blasted to ALL
the companies in the offshore, oilfield, maritime job industry at one time.
Some
people have success with this. If you think using a blaster site
will be the best way to get your resumé or CV in the hand's of a
hiring recruiter, we have the website that has
the best track record for putting it in
the hands of offshore, oilfield, maritime job recruiters that
need people TODAY to fill a number of openings.
5.
Oil job SCAM sites are masters of deception and can
be found as easy as legitimate employers on any search engine. They are professional,
well laid out and know how to word their sales material in just
the right way to get your email address and / or money. Click on
their web page or open the email they send and this is what you can
expect:
- They will lie about who they are and what
they can do for you.
- They
will steal your money and not give it back.
- It is
estimated 1000 PLUS offshore oil job seekers become new victims
every month, but you don't have to be one.
- You will
get little assistance from government agencies whose job it
is to enforce the law. Not because they don't want to help,
but because they are overwhelmed with internet fraud cases.
- AND
not
only on the web. Newspapers run ads for oil job SCAM web sites
(usually targeting third world and developing countries) with their false promise of a better
life.
Do
you know which is which? You better!
