  Maritime: Captain - 1600 Ton

1600 MASTER  (GULF OF MEXICO)
Responsible to the Operations Manager for the safe and efficient running of the vessel he has been appointed to command. The company relies upon the Master to set a high standard of personal and professional conduct and to set an example to the officers and men under his command. The Captain will be mindful of the need to maintain morale and encourage sober habits in the crew. The Captain will, at all times, give attention to the safety of the ship and crew, and will ensure that safe working practices are always employed.

Marine Functions
1. When relieving, the Master should become acquainted with the handling characteristics of the vessel, the cargo, and the personnel, capacity, equipment, operation of the navigational equipment, speed, fuel consumption, ballast arrangements, safety apparatus, and other essential characteristics, to determine whether the vessel is seaworthy, and that the equipment is in satisfactory condition.
2. If applicable, ascertain the operating schedule and changes to the number and location of rigs/platforms to be serviced.
3. Remain fully informed and adhere to all relevant laws, regulations, and directives affecting the operation of the vessel.
4. Identify and prioritize maintenance and repair items in a work list. Ensure that paperwork requirements are met, i.e. rough log, company log, charter’s log, reports, forms, engineering maintenance systems records, etc.)
5. Responsible for the security of the vessel.
6. Ensure corrections are made to the navigational charts and publications, and that “Notices to Mariners” are received aboard that are current and received on a timely basis.
7. Ensure the vessel is operationally ready to get underway by checking out the bridge/engine room interfacing equipment, internal and external communications equipment, electronic navigational aids, navigational lights and signals, and search lights.
8. Identify and respond to potentially hazardous conditions while maneuvering.
9. Ensure stability is maintained as cargo is brought aboard and stowed, or as fuel and other consumables are used by using the Stability Letter or the Trim and Stability Book Information.
10. Verify with the Mate that the anchor handling winch and all associated gear and tools are operable and available.
11. Sets course, determines geographical position, calculates land fall and avoids hazards to
shipping by utilizing aids such as lights, lighthouses, buoys, charts, plotting sheets, sextant, GPS, azimuths or other celestial bodies.
12. Understands procedure and able to receive and pump all fluids and cargo.

Emergency Response Functions
1. Overall responsibility for the safety of the crew and the vessel during emergency situations.
2. Maneuver the vessel to remain in navigable waters and minimize the effects of an emergency situation.
3. Assess the severity of all emergency situations and determine the most advantageous method to combat the emergency.
4. Responsible for the establishment of any damage control, fire fighting procedures, and personnel assignments.
5. Summon additional assistance, as required, from other ships, rigs/platforms.
6. Responsible for the ordering of the abandonment of the vessel in order to prevent serious personnel injuries.
7. Ensure that first aid is provided to victims and ascertain if additional medical assistance is required.
8. Responsible for immediately notifying the company of a death aboard the vessel.
9. Log, record, and document pertinent information or circumstances of an emergency,
injury, accident, illness, or death aboard the vessel and complete all required reports.

Supervisory Functions
1. Full authority over all officers and unlicensed personnel on the vessel.
2. Follow up on assigned maintenance and repair work lists provided by the Mate and the Chief Engineer.
3. Responsible for the maintenance of proper watches on the vessel at all times.
4. Remain alert at all times for potential safety hazards.
5. Responsible for imparting knowledge about the specific features, characteristics, and procedures of the vessel operations to crew members, and the orientation of all new personnel aboard the vessel.
6. Responsible for the posting and maintenance of station bills, equipment and arrangement diagrams, standing orders and company operations and safety manual(s) aboard the vessel.
7. Provide on-the-job training following standard operating procedures and company policy to develop personnel skills above minimum levels.
8. Responsible for the training and evaluation of personnel in the performance of their specified duties.
9. Responsible for conducting an ongoing safety program aboard the vessel, including the planning and holding of emergency drills, and for emphasizing to the crew the need to wear protective clothing and their need to use common sense while carrying out their assignments.
10. Ensure that crew members report potential safety hazards to him and then take prompt corrective action.
11. Ensure that Documentation Certificates, International Loadline Certificates, Safety Equipment Certificates, Derat Certificates, USCG Inspection Certificates (U.S. vessels) Captains, Mates and Engineer licenses and fee Station Licenses (U.S. vessels) are onboard, posted (where required) and in date.
12. Ensure that the safety, maintenance, and reporting requirements of the regulatory bodies of the vessel registry are carried out.
13. Perform any other additional duties that may be required or assigned.

Requirements

Qualified applicants must hold the following credentials:

-Valid USCG License with a minimum rating of 1600 Ton Master (3000 ITC)
-Valid USCG Master of Towing endorsement
-Valid USCG STCW-95 with Master Endorsment
-Valid MMD (Z-Card)

Must pass pre-employment physical, drug screen, background check, and safety training course.

Job Description
The nature of vessel work calls for considerable skill on the part of the Mate to supervise and coordinate the activities of the crew to the best advantage. While due regard must be paid to giving adequate rest periods, by careful planning and personal attention, the mate is expected to maintain the ship in a clean and efficient condition.

Work Schedule
12 hour days
28 days on, 14 days off

Marine Functions
1. Inspect, maintain, and test safety and lifesaving equipment, fire fighting equipment and systems, navigational lights, ship’s whistle, fog horn, and search and signal lights.
2. Responsible for the cleaning, painting, and general housekeeping to provide sanitary conditions on the vessel.
3. Inspect and test the internal communications system and the general alarm system.
4. Assist the Captain in preparing the vessel for scheduled inspections and surveys.
5. Responsible for keeping the Captain advised of changes in the material condition of the vessel.
6. Responsible to the Captain for the safe navigation of the vessel while serving as the Officer of the Deck.
7. Responsible for the assignment of crew members to handle lines for the mooring of the vessel.
Cargo Handling and Special Operations
Responsible to the Captain for the safe and proper stowage and securing of deck cargo
and ensuring all deck cargo brought aboard agrees with the provided manifest.

Emergency Response Functions
1. Responsible for taking the initiative to direct the actions of personnel at the scene of any emergency (in charge of the emergency squad).
2. Ensure that areas of responsibility are secured for adverse weather.
3. Provide first aid to injured personnel according to training or directions from the Captain.
4. Responsible for the launching of the lifecrafts.
5. Assumes command of the vessel if the Captain is incapacitated.

Supervisory Functions
1. Assign work to himself and deck hands, taking into account the weather, the vessel’s schedule, the crew size and experience, and supplies.
2. Supervise, instruct and assist the deckhands in the proper methods and procedures for
completing maintenance and repair work.
3. Supervise the roustabout, the stevedores, and the deckhands in the safe and proper stowage of deck cargo.
4. Train and assign personnel to sea watches and in-port security watches.
5. Responsible for implementing on-the-job training of the deckhands under the direction of the Captain, and in such a manner as to not interfere with any operations.
6. Responsible for training the crew in emergency procedures during drills, as directed by the Captain.
7. Responsible for supporting the ongoing safety program aboard the vessel by training members of the deck department in the wearing of protective clothing,
8. and by stressing the use of common sense and the need for alertness while carrying out assignments.
9. Recommend personnel for promotion and increase in pay.
10. Responsible for ensuring that morale and discipline are properly maintained.
11. Keeping a running inventory of amounts and expiration dates of lifesaving equipment, firefighting equipment, and emergency equipment required and on board.
12. Holds a valid license issued by the U. S. Coast Guard.
13. When more than one mate is required, may be designated Chief Mate, First Mate, Second Mate, or Third Mate.
14. Perform any other additional duties that may be required or assigned.

Purpose

The Assistant Crane Operator is responsible for assisting the Crane Operator on all matters pertaining to crane operations which includes moving equipment, materials and supplies utilized in operations of the drilling rig.

Job Profile

SAFETY MANAGEMENT

* Responsible for own personal safety and the safety of co-workers
* Shows commitment to ENSCO safety culture through personal behaviour and willingness to influence others
* Participates in rig safety meetings and other rig safety programs
* Actively participate in the ENSCO STOP program
* Under the direction of the Crane Operator inspects and trains personnel to inspect rig safety apparatus and equipment for meeting company and industry regulations
* Follows correct lock-out, tag-out procedures
* Assures that all lifts are within load limits of equipment and are correctly rigged
* Assures that lifting gear is properly colour coded prior to use
* Assists in the orientation and training of new Roustabouts regarding helicopter safety, high noise area safety, safety appliance use, lifeboat assignment, general alarm, etc

OPERATIONS

* In the absence of the Crane Operator operates crane equipment to hoist materials and equipment onto the rig from and onto ocean vessels
* Assists in organizing, planning and monitoring the work of Roustabout personnel
* Performs tasks assigned by Crane Operator during rig moving procedures

EQUIPMENT / MAINTENANCE

* Assists with inspection of slings, cables, straps and the crane structure prior to lifting operations
* Perform preventive maintenance as required to ensure safe and continual service of crane
* Supervise the cleaning and painting of the rig in the absence of the Crane Operator

REGULATORY COMPLIANCE

* Ensure activities are conducted in compliance with the company Permit to Work system
* Responsible for own and Roustabouts compliance with the company policy, safety guidelines and procedures that pertain to the Crane Operators and Roustabouts job
* Assist in corporate and regulatory body inspections

COMMUNICATIONS

* Responsible for creating an environment in which open communications concerning safety issues can occur at the appropriate levels in the organization for appropriate action and resolution
* Remains in continual voice (radio) communication with Roustabouts while operating the crane
* Assists in maintaining up to date Crane record books
* Assists in training Roustabouts regarding proper methods of tying onto loads to be hoisted or moved and proper lifting techniques for carrying load by hand with emphasis on personal safety
* In the absence of the Crane Operator confers with OIM and boat captain to assess if sea and weather conditions are safe for loading and unloading and are carried out within operating parameters of ENSCO, the OIM and regulatory bodies

Assistant Driller

Purpose
The Assistant Driller is responsible for assisting in the operation of drilling machinery and equipment with prime responsibility for the pump room and shaker room.

Job Profile

RESPONSIBILITIES

* Responsible for own personal safety and the safety of co-workers.
* Ensures that activities are conducted in accordance with corporate Permit to Work system.
* Assist in the operation of machinery and equipment necessary to prepare to drill and to drill.
* Assists in the operation of the drilling fluid circulating system.
* Interprets gauge readings showing status of weight indicator, pump strokes indicator, torque indicator, rotary revolutions, circulation system flow and others to control for optimum drilling process.
* Assist in the monitoring of drilling fluid status and alarms to ensure within specifications.
* Inspects according to company policy all equipment in the pump room and shaker room.
* Responsible for housekeeping in pump room and shaker room.
* Assists in the training of personnel in pump and shaker room activities.
* Assists in annual/quarterly corporate and/or regulatory installation inspections.
* Helps to ensure that drilling equipment meets regulatory specifications and corporate requirements and customer parameters.
* Responsible for assigned preventative maintenance activities.
* Assists specialised contracts during wireline operations, coring and cementing as directed by the Driller.
* Assists specialised contractors during well testing and temporary productions.
* Monitors assigned jacking station during jacking operations.
* Accurately measures and monitors drill string length.
* All activities carried out in accordance with ENSCO written instructions and operators well programme.
* Carries out other activities as assigned by Driller.
* Become familiar with Company Quality Management System.
* Attends training courses as required.

Reporting Relationship
Reports directly to Driller. Supervises Derrickman and Roughnecks, as required.

Education and Training

Completion of Secondary or High School education is preferred.

Skills

Have at least two years experience as an Assistant Driller.

Job Description
Responsible to the Chief Engineer to assist him in the carrying out of the engineer functions. It is extremely important that the assistant engineer be well acquainted with all the engineering systems on board the vessel as he is in charge of the engine room department while the Chief Engineer is off watch.

Marine Functions
The assistant engineer’s main function is to assist the chief engineer, but is also responsible to maintain all hand tools and electrical or pneumatic tools in a good working order.
1. The assistant engineer is to help gather all vital machinery readings.

* Monitors and documents the weather calculations including wind direction and speed, visibility and sea state and distributes to all appropriate parties.
* Responsible for creating an environment in which open communications concerning safety issues can occur at the appropriate levels in the organization for appropriate action and resolution.


FINANCIAL / COST MANAGEMENT

* Coordinates the requisition, procurement and receipt of all materials. Responsible for all activities associated with the rig warehouse.
* Assists the OIM and Toolpusher with budget preparation.

Reporting Relationship
Reports to the Offshore Installation Manager (OIM). Supervises Crane Operator and crew. Provides leadership in the absence of the OIM and Toolpusher.

Education and Training
Completion of Secondary or High School education is preferred.

Skills

* Three to five years working as Barge Engineer or equivalent on an offshore drilling rig is preferred.

Job Description
Responsible to the Captain for the efficient management of the engineering function. It is essential for the efficiency of the ship that the Captain is kept fully informed of the state of the machinery and equipment. Supervises and coordinates activities of crew engaged in operating and maintaining propulsion engines, deck machinery, and electrical, refrigeration, and sanitary equipment aboard ship. On all technical matters, the Chief Engineer will receive instructions from the division management and guidance, where necessary, from the preventive maintenance department in Galliano.

Marine Functions
Although the actual performance of the maintenance checks and appropriate repairs to vessel equipment are the main duties, the proper completion of paperwork is in no way less important. The Chief Engineer is to be knowledgeable of the vessel’s machinery status. He will maintain accurate and orderly files of vessel machinery and its maintenance.

1. Accurately record all vital plant information, take and record all fuel, lube, and water soundings, and know the amount and location of all bulk materials on the vessel.
2. Maintain an ongoing machinery status list. This list will be updated each month and presented to the relieving Chief Engineer.
3. Responsible for testing and troubleshooting equipment to isolate problems to the major sub-systems, so that he can complete the repair of the equipment himself or call in the appropriate technician.
4. Responsible for routine maintenance of the machinery and equipment. This should include, but is not limited to changing oil and filters, greasing the steering gear, anchor windlass, etc., performing electrical systems maintenance, testing for and maintaining proper levels of diesel engine water treatment, and taking and mailing of lube oil samples.
5. Responsible for maintaining emergency, radio, and other power supply batteries in good condition. This should include checking the specific gravity of the electrolyte, maintaining proper electrolyte level, and cleaning of battery terminals and cell cases.
6. Responsible for maintaining and ordering proper amounts of spares for all vital machinery.
7. Responsible for operating and monitoring all machinery and engineering equipment. (This includes the prime movers, generators, steering equipment, service pumps, compressors, ventilation systems, alarms, air conditioning and refrigeration systems, etc.)
8. In charge of the upkeep and cleanliness of all engineering spaces.
9. Maintain daily engineer log. Responsible for keeping a current and complete file of engineering manuals and blueprints. These files are to be kept in a clean and orderly arrangement.
10. Ensure that all bilges, rudder compartment, and void spaces are kept as clean and dry as possible.
11. Responsible for maintaining a proper engine room watch at all times when the vessel is underway.
12. Stands engine-room watch during specified periods, observing load on engines and generators are within acceptable limits, and oil and grease cups are kept full.

Emergency Response Functions
1. In charge of the engine room equipment and all engineering personnel.
2. Responsible for securing the watertight or gas tight integrity of the vessel during an
emergency.
3. Responsible for maintaining and testing of all emergency equipment in the engine room.
4. Responsible for starting the bilge and/or fire pumps.
5. In charge of shoring/emergency repairs.
6. In charge of securing engineering spaces/equipment for heavy weather, and assisting the Mate in securing cargo and deck equipment.
7. Provide first aid to injured personnel according to his training or at the direction of the Captain.
8. Operate the fixed fire fighting systems.
9. Assist on deck in a man overboard crisis.

Supervisory Functions
1. In charge of safety procedures on deck during transfer of fuel or other combustibles.
2. Responsible for training and supervision of all engineering personnel.
3. Responsible for training the crew in damage control procedures during drills, as directed by the Captain.
4. Responsible for training engineering officers and unlicensed personnel in watch standing procedures, and ensure they are competent and completely familiar with their duties and responsibilities.
5. Responsible for supporting the ongoing safety program aboard the vessel by training members of the engineering department in the wearing of protective clothing and their dutiesduring emergencies; and stress the use of common sense and the need for alertness while carrying out their assignments.
6. May be required to hold U.S. Coast Guard license depending upon tonnage of ship, type of engines, and means of transmitting power to propeller shaft.
7. Performs any other additional duties that may be required or assigned.
