Dear Ron,
The whole process appears to be a Hoax. Nearly lost $295 for registration to get a Maritime Work Readiness Certificate. A recruitment agent picked up mine and other persons details off a web site and forwarded this great offer to me.
Job in UAE with some details. Formal job offer to follow after completion of MWRC course; to pay $295 up front. Recruiter not now replying to my emails and Maritime Certificate agent ( with false address in South Africa ) being asked to confirm identity.
Needless to say I am disappointed but am concerned that this apparent scam may suck in others. Hoping you and your company operations may assist. Have attached resume of my background. Would appreciate your assessment of my chances for rig or similar employment.

This is to confirm and inform you that your employment consideration has been positively finalised for a two years Human Resources Management Position with the WestLite Group in Dubai, United Arab Emirates (UAE). The position reporting directly to the Director of Personnels will require you to work closely with diverse staff in an oil rig production facility.
The employment is to commence from February 16th 2001, or April 16th 2001, for a total duration of no more than 24 months or 2 years.
Please be further informed that :
The employment offer is subject to the submission of a Maritime Work Readiness Certification (MWRC) with a 2 years OPEC validation, concrete arrangements must be made to furnish us with maritime number of the said Certification at no later than the 18th of January, 2001.
You are to be fully responsible for the maritime certification program, you may contact maritime institutions in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, or South Africa.
Employment details and work assignments are as set out in the contract that will be forwarded to you on submission of your maritime certification.
As compensation for services to be rendered under this contract, your remuneration package, US $67,519.00 gross per annum, including relocation expenses, mobility, life and health care insurance, full accommodation, return airfare and other related expenses.
Employees will be entitled to a paid vacation of 4 weeks during the first year of employment and a further 4 weeks during the second year of employment. Although vacations will be granted at times requested by employee, the employer reserves the right to decline or approve the vacation time in order to ensure efficient and orderly operation of the concern. Employee shall not be able to accrue any vacation time in any year until the vacation time for the prior year has been fully used.
As further compensation, employee is entitled to participate, to the extent available to other employees and under the terms afforded to other employees, in and to any group insurance provided by employer to such other employees.
In addition the employer offers to employe, the use of company's recreational and accommodation facilities at no charge, accommodation is as need be. Single quarters consisting of furnished one (1) bedroom apartment or Married quarters consisting of two (2) or three(3) bedroom apartments or houses.
The recruiting Agency, WestLite Group, will be fully responsible for your return airfare from country of residence to country of work, and for processing your VISA/WORK PERMIT.
Please note that you are to be fully responsible for any accompanying dependant(s), but we are prepared to facilitate all necessary travelling / residence permits.
As earlier briefed, you are to be responsible for your maritime certification program. The Certification program by correspondence takes between 3/4 days or 16/20 hours of studying time at a cost of US $295, covering course materials courier, and Instruction ( on CD-ROM) + Examination and Certification.
